Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban 2.0

The Union Cabinet chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 under which financial assistance will be provided to 1 crore urban poor and middle-class families through States/Union Territories (UTs)/PLIs to construct, purchase or rent a house at an affordable cost in urban areas in 5 years starting from 1st Sept 2024. PMAY-U 2.0 is one of the major flagship programmes being implemented by Government of India to provide all-weather pucca houses to all Eligibility beneficiaries in the urban areas. The Government assistance under PMAY-U 2.0 will be upto 2.50 lakh per unit. In pursuance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision, PMAY-U 2.0, with an investment of ₹ 10 lakh crore, will address the housing needs of one crore families, ensuring that every citizen leads a better quality of life. The central assistance of 2.50 lakh crore ₹ will be provided under the Scheme. The contours of PMAY-U 2.0 have been designed on the basis of learnings of PMAY-U scheme, global best practices/ benchmarks and outcomes of series of consultations with multiple stakeholders including States/UTs, Banks, Housing Finance Companies, Private Sector etc.

Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U), a flagship Mission of Government of India being implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), was launched on 25th June 2015. The Mission addresses urban housing shortage among the EWS/LIG and MIG categories including the slum dwellers by ensuring a pucca house to all eligible urban households by the year 2022, when Nation completes 75 years of its Independence.

Affordable Rental Housing Complexes

Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has initiated Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHCs), a sub-scheme under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U). This will provide ease of living to urban migrants/ poor in Industrial Sector as well as in non-formal urban economy to get access to dignified affordable rental housing close to their workplace.

Global Housing Technology Challenge – India

MoHUA has initiated the Global Housing Technology Challenge – India (GHTC-India) which aims to identify and mainstream a basket of innovative construction technologies from across the globe for housing construction sector that are sustainable, eco-friendly and disaster-resilient.

CLSS Awas Portal (CLAP)

A web based monitoring system, CLSS Awas Portal (CLAP) is a common platform where all stakeholders i.e. MoHUA, Central Nodal Agencies, Primary Lending Institutions, Beneficiaries and Citizens are integrated in real time environment. The portal facilitates processing of applications along with tracking of subsidy status by beneficiaries. CLSS tracker has also been incorporated in PMAY(U) mobile App and UMANG platform.
